Join scientists from around the world that will focus on presenting some of the most cutting-edge areas of scientific research. The symposium will bring together scientists and engineers who are working with compressible media (i.e., supercritical, near-critical, pressurized, solvating gases, high-temperature liquids, gas-enhanced liquids). Processing should be considered in the broadest terms to include materials processing, reactions, and process-scale separations. The program will provide for maximum exchange of information on techniques, theory, applications, and commercialization.

The symposium emphasizes personal conversations and exchange of recent knowledge among researchers. The best forum has proven to be conference-long poster sessions combined with open microphone discussion sessions. Therefore, participants are encouraged to present multiple posters of their research that relates to supercritical/near-critical/pressurized fluids. The deadline to apply for student travel scholarships is also the deadline date to submit abstracts, June 1.

Session Topics In

  • Supercritical Chromatography (Preparative, Analytical, Production-Scale)
  • Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, and Natural Products Processing
  • Application of Critical Fluids in Materials Processing
  • Carbon Dioxide Sequestration — Metal / Mineral Extraction and Processing
  • Particle Formation and Polymer Production / Processing Techniques
  • Carbon Dioxide-Based Cleaning and Material Deposition Platforms
  • Energy, Nuclear, Hazardous Waste and Recycling Applications
  • The Biotechnology - Critical Fluids Interface, Bio-Refining
  • Food Applications, Ultra-High Pressure Food Processing
  • Analytical Pressurized Fluid Extraction (ASE, PSE, Sub-Critical Water)

Pre-Symposium Short Courses — Sunday, August 1

  • Short Course #1: Fundamentals of Critical Fluids and Their Application
  • Short Course #2: Supercritical Fluid Chromatography — Theory and Application; Analytical Pressurized Fluid Extraction (Pressurized Liquids, SFE, Sub-Critical Water Extraction)

Added Value

  • Short Courses on the Sunday preceding the meeting
  • Exhibition displaying instrumentation and supplies for working with compressible fluids at the analytical, semi-preparative, and preparative scales
  • Invited lectures focusing on some of the most cutting-edge areas of scientific research
  • Discussion Sessions
  • Poster Sessions outlining new applications and methodologies
